The President of al_ameed University chairs a scientific committee to discuss a master's thesis at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Babylon

On Tuesday, 7/21/2020, the President of al_ameed University, Prof. Dr. Muayyad Al-Ghazali chaired a scientific committee to discuss the master's thesis for a graduate student at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Babylon / Biochemistry Branch (Murtada Adel Abboud Abbas) via the Google meet online platform; Which dealt with the topic of insulin resistance for patients with multiple ovarian cyst, which was attended by Mr. Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Safaa Sahib Naji and a number of lecturers and graduate students in the branch of chemistry and life chemistry with adherence to all instructions related to the scientific discussions in force

The title of the thesis was (Study of the polymorphism of the C \ T nucleotide at the tyrosine kinase domain in the insulin receptor gene associated with PCOS in women in Babil Governorate)
Study C / T Single Nucleotide Polymorphism at the Tyrosine Kinase Domain of the Insulin Receptor Gene in Patients with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome in Babylon Province
The discussion committee consisted of Prof. Muayad Imran Musa as Chairman. And the membership of each of the Assistant Professor Dr. Nadia Mudhar Al-Hilli, Assistant Professor Dr. Sinai Badr Muhammad, Professor Dr. Al-Sami Hassan Al-Taie is an honorable member and Professor Dr. Bushra Jaber Al-Rubaie is an honorable member

The student explained during his thesis that the aim is to study the relationship between insulin resistance and PCOS by studying the SNP 1058 genetic forms in the insulin receptor gene
The study included (100) women, ages (17-35) years and body mass index (18-29), the study participants were divided into 50 patients with PCOS and 50 who are in good health as a group to control
The serum sample was used to measure the concentration of the fasting sugar using the color spectrometer method, and to measure the concentration of LH & testosterone & insulin using the ELISA method. The DNA was extracted from the white blood cells from the blood samples and amplified by a polymer chain reaction
The study showed that there are statistically significant differences between PCOS patients and healthy people, as high levels of fasting sugar and insulin hormone level were observed as well as values of insulin resistance (HOMA) as well as an increase in the level of LH hormone with a high statistically significant sign (P <0.05)
The study found that His 1058 snp in the insulin receptor gene may have a role in PCOS
After extensive scientific discussion, the thesis was accepted to fulfill the criteria for accepting university theses at a satisfactory degree
